Tired of the January blues? Don’t worry, Bishop’s Stortford Farmers and Craft Market will be back from 1 February! All of our Farmers and Craft Market traders handmade all of their products so you will not find anything else like it on the high street. The Farmers and Craft Market only the first Saturday of the month, so don’t miss out!

Festive Taxi Marshall Scheme Announced

Bishop's Stortford Town Council will again be funding a Taxi Marshall Scheme over the festive season.
On Fridays and Saturdays between December 6th and December 31st taxi marshals will operate at the Taxi Rank near the station to assist revellers and ensure that queues are orderly. 
The scheme will also operate on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

Notice is hereby given of an Election for a Town Councillor for Bishop`s Stortford All Saints Ward.  
1. Forms of nomination for the Town Council Election may be obtained from Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG13 8EQ from the Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.
2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG13 8EQ on any day after the date of this notice but no later than 4 pm on Friday, 15th November 2019.
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 12th December 2019.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 26 November 2019. Applications can be made online:

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG13 8EQ by 5 pm on Thursday, 12th December 2019. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5 pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019

Servicemen, veterans and local organisations are invited to participate in the parade. Assemble at 10am at the Link Road car park. The parade departs at 10.40am and marches to the War Memorial arriving prior to the service.

There will be multiple road & car park closures to allow the parade to  pass, please expect delays. 

A road closure will be in effect from 10.30am – 11.30am on 10 November 2019 for the Remembrance Parade. Entry and exit from :

Notice of Vacancy in the Office of Councillor

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for Bishop’s Stortford Town Council (All Saints Ward), following the death of Councillor Mike Wood.

If an election is requested in writing by ten or more local government electors for Bishop’s Stortford All Saints Ward, an election will be held to fill the vacancy.  Requests must be made to the returning officer of East Hertfordshire District Council at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8EQ to arrive not later than 19th November 2019.

If no request is made in accordance with the above, the vacancy will be filled by co-option by the Town Council as soon as practicable after 19th November 2019.

This notice is issued on 30th October 2019 pursuant to section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972

It is with great regret that the the Town Council announces the death of Councillor Mike Wood, following a long illness, on Friday, 25th October.
