Bishop's Stortford Army Cadet Force
Meets Mon 19.15 - 21.30
For action and adventure, fun and friendship, the Army Cadet Force is hard to beat. With 41,000 cadets (aged 12-18) and 9,500 adults in over 1,600 locations
in every corner of the United Kingdom, the ACF is one of the country’s largest voluntary youth organisations. It is also one of the oldest tracing its history back to 1859.
Many young people are missing out on the challenges and adventures that could transform their lives but joining the Army Cadets can change that. They welcome boys and girls
(aged over 12 and in at least year eight at school) of all abilities and backgrounds. When the young people join they are encouraged to learn more, do more and try more.
They are inspired to aim high and pursue their goals, no matter what they aim to do in life.
Some of the activities have a military theme, others have more of a community focus but they all inspire young people
to challenge their limits, become more independent, confident and able to step up to any challenge.

“Scouting in the Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth and Much Hadham area provides fun, challenge and adventure to over 1200 young people aged 6 to 25 and is growing. We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation that has over 450,000 members.
We can change lives by offering unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that young people can make a positive impact in our community.
Our mission is to help children and young adults reach their full potential by developing skills including teamwork, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. Thirst Café (Bishop's Stortford Youth Project)
Thirst Café Opening hours:
In the November of 2014 Thirst Youth Café opened its doors to those aged between 11-18 in Bishop’s Stortford and surrounding area.
Our vision is to engage, develop and promote young people. We aim to create a place where we demonstrate cultures of acceptance, hope and value.
The café provides a safe space to young people where they can get to know our trained volunteers, relax with friends, sample cool milkshakes and use the facilities in the café; Playstation 4, pool and computers which have age appropriate internet access. We have over 4000 visits a year and are used by young people across different schools, so if you know a young person who wants a place in town to go, then send them our way. If you’d like to know more about how to volunteer or to give financially, take a look at our website.
