Stortbus is Bishop's Stortford's new community bus covering Thorley, Havers, Parsonage, the Herts and Essex Hospital and the town centre. It has been set up to provide services on routes not covered by the commercial bus companies and operates every weekday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Anyone can use the bus - a single journey costs £1.50 or an all-day hopper pass (which can be used on both routes for multiple journeys) costs just £2.00. There are reductions for children.
The bus operates on a request basis - to stop the bus, simply put out your hand to alert the driver. Once you're on the bus, just tell the driver where you want to get off and the bus will stop at the next available safe place along the route.
Please note that timings are approximate - the bus should never arrive early but you may have to wait an extra few minutes on a busy day.
Priority will be given to elderly or disabled passengers if space is limited.
A guide to routes and times is available from the Tourist Information Centre, Council Offices or Library, or a copy can be downloaded below.
