The following paid roles are available.  

Administrative, Tourism and Events Assistant

This varied and exciting role would suit someone who likes challenge and variety in their job, who is organised and can turn their hand to a wide range of activities, and would like to develop a career in office administration with elements of project work and a customer-facing activity and/or who has an interest in Toursim or Events Management.  Whilst relevant experience is desirable, energetic and highly motivated candidates who have the intellectual capacity and demonstrable potential will be favourably considered and full training will be offered.

Working with the Core services and Tourism and Events Teams, the post holder will support the day to day activities of the Council and its Committees as well as assisting with the organisation of both public and Civic Events.   In addition they will assist customers of the Tourist Information Centre, which is funded and managed by Bishop's Stortford Town Council and provides information and services for tourists, visitors and local residents.

The post is offered initially on a one year fixed term contract with the possibility that it will become permanent thereafter.

Tourism, Events and Market Assistant

Similar to the above, this varied and exciting role would suit someone who likes challenge and variety in their job, who is organised and can turn their hand to a wide range of activities, and would like to develop a customer-facing career with a project element and/or who has an interest in Toursim or Events Management. Whilst relevant experience is desirable, energetic and highly motivated candidates who have the intellectual capacity and demonstrable potential will be favourably considered and full training will be offered.

The post holder will work with the and Tourism and Events Teams assisting customers of the Tourist Information Centre as well as assisting with the organisation of both public and Civic Events. In addition they will assist with the organisation of the regular street and specialist markets which contribute to the vibrancy of the Town Centre.

This post is offered on a permanent full time contract.

Although separate, this role and the role above have a considerable overlap and many similarities. Candidates may apply for both posts or indicate that they are interested only in one of the two.

Bishop's Stortford Minibus Trust- Saturday Minibus Driver

This role is  to drive the new Saturday Shopper Service – this service will consist of two routes around Bishop’s Stortford picking up passengers and taking them to Tesco, Bishop’s Park via the Town Centre.

Voluntary posts

We have vacancies for voluntary: 

  • Work Experience Students (minimum 1 week, ideally longer)
  • University Placement Students We can offer varied and interesting work experience, placements or voluntary work for people of most abilities and ages. The work can be either office based or outside and you will benefit from a pleasant working environment in a friendly and welcoming team.
