Remit: 

To consider and comment on environmental matters affecting the Town;

To oversee the environmental wellbeing and good order of the Town including, for example, indiscriminate parking, fly posting, A boards, dog fouling, Stortford in Bloom, etc;

To oversee public amenities within the Town, for example, seats, litter bins, cycle racks, bus shelters, etc;

To review public transport;

To review green issues as they relate to the working and expenditure of the Town Council including the Council Environmental policy;

To oversee the management of the Town’s allotment sites;

To consider annual estimates of income and expenditure on allotments for incorporation by the Town Council into the budget;

To fix rent levels for allotments within the Council policy and to recommend such rents to the Council;

To recommend to the Council acquisition or disposal of allotment sites as necessary;

To oversee the management of the Council maintained playgrounds including acquisition and disposals of equipment and maintenance of mandatory safety standards and inspections;

To consider any activity of the Council referred to it by the Council.
