Focus Group on Green Infrastructure

The Neighbourhood Plan team is holding a Focus Group at the BSTC Chamber in Windhill to discuss Green Infrastructure on Thursday, 27th November at 7.30pm. If you are interested in the conservation of our parks, gardens, natural green spaces or wildlife, please come and join us!

Market Square Toilets

BSTC are inviting tenders for the redevelopment of the Market Square Toilets.  

Bishop’s Stortford Town Council has decided to redesign and improve the existing toilets at Market Square, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2UU. Full Planning Permission has been granted and budget assigned. Part of the new design is to create a roof terrace above for use by the adjacent Rosey Lea’s café, at 12 Market Square CM23 3UU.  We are looking for a turnkey solution based on the drawings and specifications provided. Ideally we would like the work completed by 1st April 2015 however we appreciate that this may not be feasible and we are prepared to accept a later date so long as a firm commitment can be given when the contract is awarded.

The alterations proposed to the existing public conveniences should enhance the character and appearance of the Conservation Area and the setting of the nearby Listed Buildings. You will find drawings and materials specification in the documents below.  If you have any questions please submit them in writing and please note that questions and answers will be shared with anyone who has expressed an interest, either by asking a question or by another means.

Should you wish to quote for this piece of work, please provide no later than 31st December 2014

1.A detailed breakdown of costs

2.An indication of timescales to complete the work based on contract award by 31st January 2015

3.A copy of your Health and Safety policy and organisational arrangements, as required under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. If you employ four (4) or less people a policy statement will suffice.

4. The names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of three referees who we can contact

Please note that responses may be published after the contract has been awarded and will anyway be open to public inspection under Freedom of Information.  If there are any parts of your response which you consider confidential after the contract has been awarded please indicate this in your response.

Timescale will only be a factor in evaluation if two or more responses are otherwise evaluated as similar or if the bidder is unable to give a firm commitment prior to the contract being awarded.

Bishop's Stortford Paddling Pool

Work has started on the new Town Paddling Pool.

 

Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is delighted to announce that work has started on the long awaited Paddling Pool refurbishment.  Although plans were drawn up and a design agreed earlier in the year, it was decided to wait until now to commence work in order that the summer season was not cut short and full use could be made of the area whilst the weather was good.

Work has already started off site at premises of Ustigate Ltd, the contractors who will be carrying out the work on behalf of the Town Council. A steel plant room, which will house all the mechanics and a fully accessible Public Toilet, has been built and is waiting to be installed once the necessary clearance has taken place. BSTC has taken advice and worked closely with East Herts Council during the planning stages of this project to ensure no unnecessary disturbance to the area will be caused.

Work is due to be completed by the end of the year, when you will see new surfaces, play areas and fun features to include wa­ter jets and gushers, and an area of water deep enough to provide the much loved paddling pool facility.

In the winter months the area will be illuminated and a decorative fountain will run throughout the day and into the evening, making this an attractive area for residents and visitors .

The new design also lends itself to be used as a performance area when the quick drain function can be employed.

 

Audit Complete - Accounts for 2013/2014

The audit for the year ended 31st March 2014 was completed on 17th September 2014 and the accounts are now available for inspection by local electors in accordance with Section 14 of the Audit Commission Act 1998.

Neighbourhood Area designated

The Neighbourhood Area of Bishop's Stortford All Saints, Central, South and part of Thorley was designated by East Herts Council on 5th August 2014

Bishop’s Stortford Minibus Trust Vacancy Community Bus Driver (2 x positions)

 

Bishop’s Stortford Minibus Trust is seeking to employ two Community Bus Drivers to drive their free weekly service from Much Hadham to Bishop's Stortford: The Hadham Hopper.

 

The Hadham Hopper operates every Thursday bringing local people from the surrounding villages of Much Hadham, Perry Green, and Green Tye into Bishop’s Stortford.  Drivers will work from 9.15-11.00 and 12.45-2.30 (total hours worked 3.5hrs). In the interim period drivers are not required to drive.

 

The person we are looking for will be able to work on their own initiative, as well as being able to function as a full member of the team.

 

Qualifications are not vital, but, a full driving licence with a D1 category is essential.

Knowledge of Bishop’s Stortford and experience of driving is desirable.

 

Basic salary (Gross): £8.97ph+ holiday allowance £0.96 pence per hour.

Audit Notice - Accounts for 2013/2014

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT OF DATE FOR THE EXERCISE OF ELECTORS’ RIGHTS - ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2014

(Audit Commission Act 1998, Sections 15 and 16 , Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2011 (SI 2011/817)

This notice will be displayed from 09 June 2014 to 22 June 2014.

Each year Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s annual return is audited by an auditor appointed by the Audit Commission. Any person interested has the right to inspect the accounts and make copies of the annual return and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to the Accounting Statements.

These documents for Bishop’s Stortford Town Council are to be made available on reasonable notice by application between the hours of 10am and 3pm on Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays) commencing on 23 June 2014 and ending on 18 July 2014.
