Don't forget to come to our Neighbourhood Plan Open Day at Jackson Square, this Thursday 20th February from 10am to 5pm. There will be a chance to talk to members of the Neighbourhood Plan team and comment on the Plan for Silverleys and Meads Wards. Copies of the draft plan will be available to take away, as well as a printed summary and other information. Comments should be made to the Town Council in writing, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via the Neighbourhood Plan pages at www.stortfordplan.org by 25th March 2014.
The Neighbourhood Plan is now at formal consultation stage, as required by Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012. The consultation documents, in a variety of formats, are available on the neighbourhood plan pages of this site and may also be inspected at the offices of the Town Council. We will also be holding a further public event in Jackson Square on 20th February. Comments should be submitted via the comments page on this site, by email to email@example.com or in writing to the Town Council. Comments must be received no later than 25th March 2014.

A meeting of Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s Planning and Development Committee will take place on 27th January 2014 at 7:30pm, in The Charnley Hall, The Windhill Churches Centre, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, CM23 2PE. A planning application for the construction of up to 410 houses in the north-west of the town will be considered (Applicant: Countryside Properties, Land Between: Hazelend Road and Farnham Road, Bishops Stortford, Herts. Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is a statutory consultee on all planning applications affecting the Town, however the decision is ultimately made by East Herts District Council. The District Council will take into account representations made by this Council, however you should ensure that a copy of your comments is also sent to direct to East Herts District Council.
Town Council staff have their work cut out following the chaos caused by storm St Jude on Monday 28 October 2013. In the aftermath of the storm, numerous trees lay broken alongside the river and bordering Sworders Field. The Town's Cemeteries were also effected and had to be closed to the public to allow for clearance of the debris. Work will continue this week.
Local artists living or working in East Herts are invited to apply for an award of up to £7,000 from East Herts Council to create an innovative art project, installation or performance for the enjoyment and benefit of East Herts residents and or businesses.
The deadline for return of submissions is 15 January 2014. The commission will be agreed before 31March 2014, but the project may be delivered anytime within the calendar year 2014.
The project may be in any form, temporal or permanent.
Applications can be made for the whole award or part of and can include projects for which other funding has been secured or is being sought.
The criteria used for assessment of the submissions will be:
- Accessibility (eg. numbers of people benefitting and or participating)
- Aesthetic merit
- Legacy and impact
The entries will be assessed by a panel including representatives for East Herts Council, Hertford Regional College, Rhodes, Henry Moore Foundation and Hertford Theatre.
