Audit Complete - Accounts for 2013/2014

The audit for the year ended 31st March 2014 was completed on 17th September 2014 and the accounts are now available for inspection by local electors in accordance with Section 14 of the Audit Commission Act 1998.

Neighbourhood Area designated

The Neighbourhood Area of Bishop's Stortford All Saints, Central, South and part of Thorley was designated by East Herts Council on 5th August 2014

Bishop’s Stortford Minibus Trust Vacancy Community Bus Driver (2 x positions)

 

Bishop’s Stortford Minibus Trust is seeking to employ two Community Bus Drivers to drive their free weekly service from Much Hadham to Bishop's Stortford: The Hadham Hopper.

 

The Hadham Hopper operates every Thursday bringing local people from the surrounding villages of Much Hadham, Perry Green, and Green Tye into Bishop’s Stortford.  Drivers will work from 9.15-11.00 and 12.45-2.30 (total hours worked 3.5hrs). In the interim period drivers are not required to drive.

 

The person we are looking for will be able to work on their own initiative, as well as being able to function as a full member of the team.

 

Qualifications are not vital, but, a full driving licence with a D1 category is essential.

Knowledge of Bishop’s Stortford and experience of driving is desirable.

 

Basic salary (Gross): £8.97ph+ holiday allowance £0.96 pence per hour.

Audit Notice - Accounts for 2013/2014

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT OF DATE FOR THE EXERCISE OF ELECTORS’ RIGHTS - ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2014

(Audit Commission Act 1998, Sections 15 and 16 , Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2011 (SI 2011/817)

This notice will be displayed from 09 June 2014 to 22 June 2014.

Each year Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s annual return is audited by an auditor appointed by the Audit Commission. Any person interested has the right to inspect the accounts and make copies of the annual return and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to the Accounting Statements.

These documents for Bishop’s Stortford Town Council are to be made available on reasonable notice by application between the hours of 10am and 3pm on Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays) commencing on 23 June 2014 and ending on 18 July 2014.

Local electors and their representatives have rights to question the auditor about the accounts and object to the accounts or any item in them. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Council/meeting. The auditor can be contacted at the address below for this purpose from 21 July 2014 until the audit has been completed.

Healthwatch want your views on GP Surgeries

The Town Council has, for several years, been conscious of views expressed by residents on access to GP surgeries and has made representations to and received presentations from the surgeries on several occasions

Healthwatch Hertfordshire is now conducting some research on GP access. and a asking residents to complete this survey and is hoping residents could spend a few minutes of their time to tell us what they think about their doctor’s surgery.

Any information taken will be completely anonymous and you can stop the survey at any time. Questions about the survey should be directed to Healthwatch on 01707275978 or info@healthwatchhertfordhsire.co.uk

Everyone that completes a survey has the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win £50 of M&S vouchers. The results of the election of a Town Councillor for Central Ward have been declared as follows: 

Burrows, Peter David (UK Independence Party ): 774 votes 

Drake, Holly Catherine (Conservative Party): 724 votes

Russell, Natalie Ann (Labour Party): 558 votes

Taylor, Robert Ian (Liberal Democrats): 457 votes

Bishop's Stortford in Bloom

Bishop's Stortford in Bloom are inviting all public houses and restaurants to take part in their annual competition for best floral display.

Some restaurants are former public houses and we have noted that many of them already have attractive displays and we would like to give them the opportunity of competing. The displays can be of hanging baskets, tubs, garden beds or whichever combination is suitable for your premises. The size and suitability of the display, bearing in mind the location, will be taken into consideration. The final judging will be in August but we will watch all summer to see that the displays are kept tidy and well maintained. We hope the displays will give pleasure to passers-by throughout the summer and into the autumn.

There is no need to make a formal application to take part as all premises displaying flowers will be considered, however, it would be helpful if you could phone Mrs Joy Cornell Tel 01279 655396 or email llenroc@talktalk.net

Winners will receive certificates for display in their premises and press coverage.

Bishop's Stortford in Bloom work in close co-operation with both the town council and the district council but is run by volunteers who maintain the flower displays in the beds and planters throughout the town. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers.
