NOTICE OF VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCILLOR FOR THE CENTRAL WARD OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF BISHOP’S STORTFORD

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A VACANCY HAS OCCURRED IN THE OFFICE OF TOWN COUNCILLOR FOR THE ABOVE-MENTIONED WARD OF BISHOP’S STORTFORD TOWN COUNCIL CAUSED BY THE RESIGNATION OF COUNCILLOR PETER GRAY.

AN ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANCY WILL BE HELD IF NOTICE IN WRITING OF A REQUEST FOR SUCH AN ELECTION IS MADE BY TEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTORS FOR THE BISHOP’S STORTFORD CENTRAL TOWN COUNCIL ELECTORAL AREA AND RECEIVED BY THE RETURNING OFFICER OF THE EAST HERTFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL AT WALLFIELDS, PEGS LANE, HERTFORD, HERTS., SG13 8EQ BY NOT LATER THAN 10 APRIL 2014.

IF AN ELECTION IS NOT REQUESTED BY TEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTORS AS AFORESAID, THE VACANCY WILL BE FILLED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE AFTER 10 APRIL 2014.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Annual Town Meeting will be held at Rhodes, 1-3 South Road, CM23 3JG, on Tuesday 1 April 2014, at 7.30pm. 
The meeting is open to the press and public.

Neighbourhood Plan Open Day at Jackson Square, 20th February

Don't forget to come to our Neighbourhood Plan Open Day at Jackson Square, this Thursday 20th February from 10am to 5pm. There will be a chance to talk to members of the Neighbourhood Plan team and comment on the Plan for Silverleys and Meads Wards. Copies of the draft plan will be available to take away, as well as a printed summary and other information. Comments should be made to the Town Council in writing, by email to comments@stortfordplan.org or via the Neighbourhood Plan pages at www.stortfordplan.org  by 25th March 2014.

Neighbourhood Plan Formal Consultation

The Neighbourhood Plan is now at formal consultation stage, as required by Regulation 14 of the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012. The consultation documents, in a variety of formats, are available on the neighbourhood plan pages of this site and may also be inspected at the offices of the Town Council.   We will also be holding a further public event in Jackson Square on 20th February.  Comments should be submitted via the comments page on this site, by email to comments@stortfordplan.org or in writing to the Town Council. Comments must be received no later than 25th March 2014.

Localism & Strategy Meeting cancelled

The meeting of the Localism and Strategy Committee on 10th february is cancelled due to the need for key councillors to attend urgent neighbourhood plan business

Proposed development of up to 410 homes in the NW of the Town

A meeting of Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s Planning and Development Committee will take place on 27th January 2014 at 7:30pm, in The Charnley Hall, The Windhill Churches Centre, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, CM23 2PE. A planning application for the construction of up to 410 houses in the north-west of the town will be considered (Applicant: Countryside Properties, Land Between: Hazelend Road and Farnham Road, Bishops Stortford, Herts. LPA Reference: 3/13/1501/OP).

Members of the public or organisational representatives are invited to speak, subject to the absolute discretion of the Chairman, providing an emailed or written request is received no later than Friday 24th January 2014 at 12 Noon. Applications must state whether they are an individual or representing a named organisation and be accompanied by a summary in no more than three sentences of the principal subjects to be covered in the speech. Individuals will be permitted to speak for a maximum of three minutes and organisational representatives for a maximum of six minutes.

Time is limited and preference will be given to organisations/individuals in the order in which their application to speak is received subject to maintaining an appropriate balance and avoiding duplication. If time is available applications received after the deadline or on the night will be considered.

The plans can be viewed at The Old Monastery, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2ND, Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm. The agenda for the meeting will be available for download on the Town Council website from 2pm on Wednesday 22nd January 2014 and paper copies will be available on the night.

Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is a statutory consultee on all planning applications affecting the Town, however the decision is ultimately made by East Herts District Council. The District Council will take into account representations made by this Council, however you should ensure that a copy of your comments is also sent to direct to East Herts District Council.
