Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s annual return needs to be reviewed by an external auditor appointed by Public Sector Audit Appointments Limited. Any person interested has the right to inspect the accounting records for the financial year to which the audit relates and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts and other documents relating to those records or documents.
These documents for Bishop’s Stortford Town Council are to be made available on reasonable notice by application between the hours of 10am and 3pm on working days (excluding public holidays) commencing on 23 June 2016 and ending on 03 August 2016.

Local electors and their representatives have rights to question the auditor about the accounts and object to the accounts or any item in them. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the smaller authority. The auditor can be contacted at the address below for this purpose during the inspection period which commences on 23 June 2016 and ends on 03 August 2016.
The smaller authority's annual return is subject to review by the appointed auditor under the provisions of the Local Audit And Accountability Act 2014, the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 and the NAO's Code of Audit Practice.

The Stortford Shuttle runs every Monday to Friday from 08.00 - 15.00, except for bank holidays. It starts and finishes at Herts & Essex Hospital and operates a figure of 8 route calling at the Bishop's Gate, Thorley, Havers and Parsonage areas, looping twice through the town centre every hour. East Herts Council’s purchase of Old River Lane, a key site in the heart of Bishop’s Stortford, has opened up many exciting regeneration possibilities. Now is your chance to make your comments as East herts District Council prepares a planning framework for the town centre. It will provide a vision for future development and investment in the town centre, in order to maximise the potential of the town’s assets and inform the development of significant sites. The framework will provide a plan for the next 20 years, taking into account the town’s current and future economic role, along with movement and design considerations. It is being prepared by top architecture and urban planning practice, Allies and Morrison. Don’t miss your chance to comment – the deadline is the end of June.

A meeting of Bishop’s Stortford Town Council’s Planning and Development Committee will take place on 16 May 2016 at 7:30pm, in the in the Council Chamber, The Old Monastery, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford, CM23 2ND.
A planning application for mixed use purposes comprising up to 682 residential unit (use Class C3), 607 sqm of retail floorspace (Class A1/A3), 3034sqm of hotel floorspace (Class C1), two multi storey car parks and associated highways and landscaping works.(Applicant: Solum. Members of the public or organisational representatives are invited to speak, subject to the absolute discretion of the Chairman, providing an emailed or written request is received no later than Friday 13 May 2016 at 12 Noon. Bishop’s Stortford Town Council is a statutory consultee on all planning applications affecting the Town, however the decision is ultimately made by East Herts District Council. The District Council will take into account representations made by this Council, however you should ensure that a copy of your comments is also sent to direct to East Herts District Council.

To celebrate England’s patron saint an original piece of street theatre will be performed by Bishop’s Stortford’s very own Water Lane Theatre Company, based on the life events of St George. The traditional work will be accompanied with original score and songs. The performance will be starting at Market Square at 11am and continue throughout the day. Water Lane Theatre Company will also be performing a Midsummer Night’s Dream on 7th, 8th and 9th July at Monastery Gardens, Windhill, Bishop’s Stortford in support of Isabel Hospice.
