    It is with much sadness and regret to announce that the Reverend Colin Fry, Britain's most loved and respected Spiritualist Medium, lost his fight against cancer and passed away peacefully in Hospital in the early hours at 2:50am this morning (25 August)
    Colin brought a lot of comfort to his audiences in a career which spanned for more than 30 years.
    Our sympathies and condolences go out to Colin's family and friends.

    This year Bishop' Stortford Art Society celebrate their 80th anniversary and to commemorate the occassion they are holding a special two week exhibition in the Rhodes Gallery from the
    17th  to the 30th  September 2015.  As well as paintings on show there will be sculptured items and ceramics displayed in the glass cabinets.  Also on display will be photographs and historical items about the society which it is felt would be of interest to local residents.
    The society currently has over 75 members and would welcome any newcomers.  During the summer months members meet weekly to paint or sketch at different locations. In the Autumn and Winter months they meet fortnightly at Thorne Grove Primary School for demonstrations and working evenings.
    Members are also encouraged to enter their work in exhibitions organized by the Society.  If you are interested in joining this very friendly group, please contact David Cooper, the president who would be pleased to hear from you.     Old inscriptions, monuments, well-known names - it might sound strange to think of cemeteries as works of art, but this is exactly what they can be! The cemetery on the Cemetery Road in Bishop’s Stortford is filled with historical monuments of local importance. For 160 years this cemetery has been the resting place for some of Stortford’s most interesting residents, so join us for a historical tour and learn more about their history.
