  • On The Beat: Stories from 1914-1918

    Tuesday, August 5, 2014 - 1:00am to Friday, May 15, 2020 - 1:00am

This special exhibition showcases work by students and ex-students from Middlesex University’s illustration department, who will use the medium of graphic novels to bring the stories of the home front to life. Research into local police records of the period has uncovered some fascinating, humorous and challenging stories illustrating life at home for ordinary people and the police, as well as soldiers back from the trenches.
Special school visits are available by appointment – please contact the museum: museum@rhodesbishopsstortford.org.uk or by phone on 01279 651746

‘Really high quality work and a great asset to Bishop’s Stortford’
CONTEXTURE THEATRE, Bishop’s Stortford’s acclaimed professional theatre company, present Alan Ayckbourn’s riotous festive comedy, 'Season's Greetings'.
    The Perfect Antidote to Christmas!
Christmas should mean a time for family and friends to come together and enjoy each other’s company. But peace and goodwill don’t last long at Belinda and Neville’s home. Take a frustrated housewife, a seductive stranger, an eccentric puppeteer and a gun-mad uncle - mix in Santa, too much alcohol and some annoying mechanical toys - and you have a recipe for one truly dysfunctional Christmas.
Following on from the success of 'Journey's End‘, ('A totally engrossing piece of theatre’ Observer), Contexture look forward to getting their teeth into this well-loved comedy.
