The Council manages over 480 allotment plots on 10 sites.

The allotment rental year runs from January - December.

Plots of 2.5 rods (7m x 7m) and 5 square rods (10m x 12m) are available for rent. Prices are as follows:

Fees for 2018 are per rod and as follows:-

Residents              £5.75

Senior Citizens & Personal Independent Payment (PIP) Recipients  £2.85 (1st 10 rods only)

Non–Residents £11.50 (inc Sen Citizens)

New Tenant Admin Set Up Fee  £25.00

There is a key charge of £7.50 at some sites.

Residents              £5.80

Senior Citizens & Personal Independent Payment (PIP) Recipients  £2.90 (1st 10 rods only)

Non–Residents £11.60 (inc Sen Citizens)

New Tenant Admin Set Up Fee  £27.50

There is a key charge of £7.50 at some sites.

Fees can be paid by cash, cheque (made payable to BSTC) or by internet and phone banking (details on request). We regret we are unable to accept debit / credit cards.

Please be aware that there is a waiting list at some sites but you can download the Application form for an Allotment and view the Tenancy Agreement which will be completed by the administrator on allocation of a plot.  Plots are available NOW at many of the sites.

We have recently introduced the possibility to keep bees and hens subject to appropriate rules.  Please contact Lesley Howell (lesley.howell@bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk) on 01279 712148 for further information. 

Allotment office hours are 09.00am - 14.00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but please leave a message on the voice mail at any time and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

The Best Kept Plot Competition 2018

Taking photos of the 2 best kept plots on each will be done by the site agents during June and July. The best on site and the best kept plot overall will be chosen by the Mayor George Cutting.

The site winners will receive the 1st 5 rods of their holdings, well done to you all.

The Mayor George Cutting judged that plot 23 Haymeads Lane was the overall winner and
the plot holder will receive a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates, congratulations!!

For this year only, as it has been an extremely difficult growing year,  the Mayor would also
like to award a bottle of wine to the plots he judged 2nd and 3rd, These plots are
220a Ward Crescent and 14a Barrells Down Road. Wine on the way!!
